Update on Birdie

Birdie

Birdie is a sweet 3 year old female that started out as a backyard only dog and has transitioned to being a wonderful indoor companion that loves to be around her people. She's fully potty trained, crate trained up to four hours, and is now spayed. Through our wellness process, we discovered that Birdie has mild to moderate osteoarthritis in her hips and is a candidate for a total hip replacement, which NGRR is funding. We have also incorporated a higher quality food, a liquid joint supplement, and daily fish oil softgels to manage her arthritis. She's a low energy Golden who walks very well on a leash. Birdie completed a training course to get her more socialized with other dogs and has made excellent progress. She can still be a little unsure at first with dogs that she doesn't know and warms up slowly, so an experienced dog owner with patience will be a requirement. Birdie is going to do best as the only dog in a kid-free, calm environment with adults that are mostly home. A retired person or couple would be perfect for her as she is truly a companion dog. Cats are a definite no as she likes to chase them. She enjoys the outdoors and loves her weekly trips splashing in the river. Birdie is being fostered in Sacramento. If you think you would be a great fit for Birdie when she has recovered from her surgery please indicate it on your adoption application. If you have already submitted an adoption application, please reach out to your Area Coordinator or email [email protected] to have your application considered for her.
