Tico looking for his forever home

Meet Tico.. A slender 3 yo neutered male weighing 60 lbs. Small but very enthusiastic boy. He can chase a tennis ball for an hour, crawl up a ladder to a platform fort, and carry 3 tennis balls in his mouth. He has always lived with other dogs and cats and is currently being fostered with a golden and lab. Does great with kids of all ages and will follow directions and drop his ball for kids as young as 7 yo. He is a bit of a countersurfer and will pull on a leash. His medical is completed and he is neutered. After receiving his medical records in February, we were very surprised in April when he went in for some seasonal allergies on his feet. 1) Tico has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 heart murmur. After performing an echo there is no medication or further action. The full results will be made available upon request. • The left atrium is normal in size. The left ventricle is normal in both diastolic and systolic dimensions and wall thickness is normal. Left ventricular systolic function is normal. The right side is subjectively normal in size with subjectively normal systolic function. The mitral valve is mildly thickened. The tricuspid valve appears mildly thickened. No distinct left atrial thrombi/clots or spontaneous contrast appreciated. The aortic valve and visible aorta appear normal. The pulmonic valve and visible pulmonary arteries appear normal. No masses, pulmonary infiltrate, or pericardial effusion are noted. • Recommendations/Treatment: Given these findings, no cardiac therapy is recommended. There are no absolute cardiac contraindications to anesthesia, fluid therapy, vasopressor therapy, or corticosteroids as indicated for further assessment and treatment. 2) Tico has also been diagnosed with Ichthyosis. This is a genetic issue when both parents are carriers. We are fortunate to have a reference who adopted Golden from us and is open to discussing general maintenance, • Ichthyosis in dogs is a condition that can cause dry skin like dandruff • It is caused by a genetic mutation and present at birth when both parents are the carrier of the gene • Management includes regular bathing with over-the-counter non-soap shampoo. Frequency depends on the time of year when fish oil and vitamin A are consumed. No special diet.
